Bernard Edwards & Nile Rodgers wrote and produced many of the most popular and memorable disco and funk hits of the 1970s and 1980s. Between 1962 and 1972 the Burt Bacharach and Hal David were everywhere. Hardly a week went by without a least one of their songs appearing on the Billboard Singles Chart. Their first success came with “The Story of My Life,” by Marty Robbins Driven which reached #15 which was followed by another collaboration for Perry Como’s “Magic Moments.” Neither song gave any indication of what was to follow; a string of hit songs for some of the world’s best-known recording artists. The songwriting duo of Carole King and Gerry Goffin wrote many of the 1960s biggest hits including; ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘Take Good Care of My Baby’, and ‘The Loco-Motion’, and their songs have been recorded by legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin, James Taylor and the Beatles Meeting in college, Carole King and Gerry Goffin began collaborating as songwriters, with King writing the music and Goffin the lyrics. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship, and when King became pregnant and they married in August 1959.
